Autumn 1 2026
The children in Nursery have had a fantastic half term exploring our topic of Colours!
We have enjoyed singing lots of colourful songs to help us learn the colours of the rainbow and
discover how mixing different colours together can create new ones. The children have also
loved exploring the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? They have been learning
the Makaton signs for the different colours and animals in the story, helping to develop their
communication skills in a fun and engaging way. We then used our imaginations to create our
own versions of the story, introducing some wonderful new animals, including a gold elephant
and a white shark!
enjoyed exploring a variety of objects and learning to group them according to different criteria,
including size, colour and shape.
We rounded off our topic with a fantastic Rainbow Day! The children enjoyed creating colourful
rainbows, taking part in exciting colour experiments and exploring all things bright and beautiful.
One of the highlights was using our water sprayers to create real rainbows outside! It was a
wonderful way to celebrate everything we have learned about colours this half term.
We are so proud of the children's curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm for learning, and we look
forward to more exciting adventures next half term!
