UKS2 Curriculum

UKS2 – Summer 1

The first half of the summer term has been an exciting and rewarding time for the children,
filled with memorable experiences and hard work. One of the highlights of the term has been
our history topic on the Victorians. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring what life
was like during the Victorian era. They have learned about Victorian schools, homes, jobs,
inventions, and the differences between rich and poor families during that time. It has been
wonderful to see the children so engaged and eager to ask questions as they discovered
more about this important period in history.
A particular highlight of the topic was our fantastic trip to the Gressenhall Farm and
Workhouse. The visit gave the children the opportunity to experience history in a hands-on
and memorable way. They explored the workhouse buildings, discovered what daily life
would have been like for Victorian children.
Another major event during this half term was SATs week for our Year 6 pupils. We could
not be prouder of the way they approached the tests with determination, maturity, and
resilience. The children worked incredibly hard in the lead-up to SATs and demonstrated a
positive attitude throughout the week itself. They supported one another, remained focused,
and gave every challenge their very best effort. Their commitment and perseverance have
been wonderful to see, and every single pupil should feel proud of what they achieved.
To celebrate the end of SATs week and recognise all of the children’s hard work, Year 6
enjoyed a well-deserved cinema treat. It was a lovely opportunity for them to relax, spend
time together, and celebrate the end of an important milestone in their primary school
journey.
